Join Kudu Expeditions with your 4x4!  All you need to take part in our expeditions, from 3 weeks to 4 months, is your own 4x4 and a sense of adventure.  Explore Africa in the comfort of your own vehicle and take part in a truly epic drive across the most testing and colourful continent on the planet.  With our knowledge of Africa, our expertise with vehicles, and medical and administrative support you can conquer the Sahara, visit Timbuktu, cross the jungles of the Congo and traverse the stunning and remote mountains of Angola on an unforgettable journey.

Which Vehicle?

You don’t need to be an off-road enthusiast or own a fully desert prepared Landrover to join one of our expeditions.  Pretty much all 4x4 vehicles are up to the job.  Some may be stronger, more reliable or better off-road than others, but there is no reason whey every single one shouldn’t make it to our final destination having given you the adventure of a lifetime.  Some vehicles are more commonly used for this kind of overland travel, but each and every one has its own strengths, so from the biggest Landcruiser to the smallest Suzuki– the good news is you can join us on our next great adventure.

Vehicle Preparation

Good news here too – there are absolutely no essential modifications at all for most 4x4 vehicles on the road today.  Beyond a good service and thorough inspection, there is a very good chance that it is ready for overlanding already.  There are plenty of modifications you may still wish to consider which can make your vehicle stronger, and make it more comfortable for you to live from, and we are happy to advise you on this.  When you book onto one of our expeditions you will get a full vehicle inspection and consultation where we will explain the options to you – specifically with your personal budget in mind.  Examples of modifications you may consider are as follows:

• Roof rack
• Roof tent
• Upgraded suspension
• All terrain tyres
• Water filtration system
• Awning
• Lighting
• Fridge
• 240V power supply
• 20 litre fuel and water jerry cans

Joining a Kudu Expedition

Our expeditions are designed to take you on a truly adventurous journey across Africa.  You will have a lot of flexibility to explore in your own way and at your own pace.   Each morning you, along with the other participants, will receive your daily briefing on the day ahead.  Mainly working from GPS waypoints which we will give you, you will be told where and when to meet up with the remainder of the expedition.  This may be for lunch, or simply at the end of the day at the next camp.  Armed with detailed information on exactly what lies ahead you can usually disappear for the day and experience Africa in your own way.  With our mechanical, medical and administrative back-up, we’re convinced there is no more enjoyable or safer way to cross Africa!
